INTIMATE history 2014 onwards

INTIMATE  activities: 2014 onwards

Following the successful INTIMATE COST action that ended in 2014, and which provided European funding for a range of activities, INTIMATE remained active in organizing meetings, conferences and workshops. These included an annual sequence of symposia sessions at EGU (which began in 2008 , as well as specific conferences , including those held in Aberystwyth, Wales in 2017, the Galileo Conference in Gniew, Poland 2018, and a session at the 20th INQUA Congress in Dublin, Ireland in 2019. Details of these meeting can be found below. In addition, INTIMATE example summer schools were held in Romania and Poland in 2016, and in France in 2018. These attracted postgraduate students and early career researchers from across Europe.

Special issues of academic journals (see below) showcase the work of INTIMATE over the last two decades, while the INTIMATE protocol papers demonstrate the ongoing impact of the INTIMATE project on our understanding of Late Quaternary environmental change. In addition, the ‘stratotype papers’ which are the result of collaboration between INTIMATE members and the Subcommission for Quaternary Stratigraphy (of the International Commission on Stratigraphy) have attracted international attention, with a total of over 3.5k citations and currently some 400 citation per year, and constitute a significant contribution by INTIMATE to international geological science.
